Look mom, art without a computer!

This is another illustration for the agricultural publication "AGWEEK." The story was about the Canadian Wheat Board, which is a governing agency in Canadian that regulates the sale of wheat to other countries. U.S. farmers say it's unfair and dumps wheat into North Dakota to get a higher price and doesn't allow American farmers to do the same in Canada. To say the least, North Dakota wheat farmers hate the wheat board in Canadian. But one farmer thought that America should start their own wheat board -- turn about being fair play.

In trying to illustrate the story, the reporter and I thought the introduction of an American wheat board would be much like the introduction of a new queen on a chess board. Three hours later, poof, another Agweek cover was born!

I wanted to create this with cover without a computer. It started as a pencil drawing and then I used watercolor to add the main color and some broad detail and then finished it with colored pencils.
