Tony's art page
A new deal for me

I'm currently working with photoshop-manipulated art work. This is a recent example of one.

Believe it or not, it started as a drawing on a paper towel. I liked the color and texture of the paper towel and started making a sketch of someone dealing cards. (A hapless newsroom person posed for about 60 seconds for this illustration -- thanks deb!)

At a certain point I scan the drawing into my mac and then opened the file in photoshop and started using the airbrush and curves tool to change shapes and colors. I like the mixing of natural and computer media.

This is another cover for AGWEEK. It's an outlook for the new year in agriculture. Because this will be the first full year of the brand new "Freedom to Farm" legislation, we wanted to get at the idea that farmers would now have new opportunities and new challenges as this radically new system. We carried the poker idea into poker chip icons which were used with stories about different issues in the coming year. I created the icons in Illustrator then placed them into the photoshop illustration.
