Lord Bregin

Lord Bregin began his life in the home of a dwarvan family. He still doesn't know where his parents are or why they left him in the mountains and doesn't seem to care.
He left his adopted home when it became obvious that he desired a lifestyle that the dwarves couldn't provide. His mind was sharp and his body was always strong and took up work as an apprentice to a warrior. He learned the trade of a mercenary and became an accomplished swordsman.
He worked to keep his darker side in control, but killing in the heat of battle gave him a pleasure that was unmatched in his life. He loved to see the fear in his opponents eyes and hear the last breath leave the body.
He happened upon an old man walking alone in the forest. He called to the man, but the old one ignored him. Quick to anger, he leaped off his horse and began to attack the man with his sword.
With the flick of a wrist, the old man brought out a slim wooden wand and muttered a word. Blinding, white-hot lightning arced at Bregin knocking him back into his horse, killing the beast and nearly killing Bregin.
The old man laugh and left the young warrior to die alone.
After a long recovery, Bregin left his armor and weapons behind and bent his will to learning the secrets of magic. He found the ways of magic too difficult for him and beyond a few simple spells, he was unable to harness the truly terrible magic that he desired.
He returned to the way of the sword with renewed vigor and found warrior magic locked in swords and armor. He greedily collected all the magical armor and weapons that he heard of and amassed a bizarre assortment of both beneficial and baneful weapons.
His quest stop when he found the Indigo rainbow blade. A +3 long sword, it is the most powerful weapon he has ever come across. When it is drawn, it protects the wielder from direct magical assault. A mage can conjure an elemental to fight the wielder, but lighting bolts, and the like, will fizzle when targeting the wielder of the sword.
The problem for Lord Bregin is that the blade is aligned with the forces of good. His evil nature caused the blade to fail to protect him, in the beginning. So profound is the blackness in Lord Bregin's soul, that he has stained the blade. The other rainbow blades are neutral good, but the Indigo blade is now neutral and evil tendencies.
The blade and his wielder now hate the other rainbow blades and seek their destruction.
Lord Bregin has also heard a rumors of two more blades, White and Black. The white blade is rumored to be able to use any of the powers of any other blade and, while doing so, temporarily robs the other blade of its ability. The black blade is rumored to be able to destroy any of the other blades, accept the white blade.
He will follow any rumor that might lead him to any of the blades. He currently has the Red blade in his castle and knows that a knight in Garidin has the Orange blade.
